Who We Are

Aeris Journals is operated by Robin Chand, based in the United Kingdom.

I'm responsible for operating the service and making reasonable efforts to keep it stable, secure, and reliable as a small, independent project.

Use of the Service

You may use Aeris Journals for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these terms.

You agree not to:

  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
  • Attempt to bypass technical protections or access areas you are not allowed to.
  • Use the service for illegal activities or to store unlawful content.

Accounts & Access

Some features (such as sync between the web app and Foundry) require authentication and an active Patreon connection.

You are responsible for keeping your credentials, tokens, and access details secure. Do not share them with others.

Patreon Supporter Features

Certain features, such as cloud sync between Aeris Journals and Foundry VTT, are available only to Patreon supporters.

If your Patreon support ends or cannot be verified, sync features may be paused or disabled. Your existing local data in Foundry and any data in the web app will remain accessible where technically possible.

Your Content

You retain all rights to the content you create using Aeris Journals, including notes, journal entries, and world information.

By using sync features, you grant Aeris Journals a limited licence to store, process, and transfer your content solely for:

  • Providing the application and sync features.
  • Maintaining backups and operational safety.

We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Data Handling

How your personal data is collected, stored, and used is described in the Aeris Journals Privacy Policy.

By using the service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy and any updates to it.

Availability & Changes to the Service

Aeris Journals is an independent project and may change over time.

I may add, modify, or remove features, or temporarily suspend the service (for example, to deal with bugs, scaling, or infrastructure issues).

I am not responsible for downtime or interruptions caused by third-party providers such as hosting, Patreon, or Foundry VTT itself.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Aeris Journals to:

  • Store or share illegal content.
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to compromise the service.
  • Infringe on the rights or privacy of other people.

I may restrict or remove access where there is a reasonable belief that these terms are being violated.

Termination

You can stop using Aeris Journals at any time. You are encouraged to export or back up your data regularly.

I may suspend or terminate access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, or if providing the service is no longer viable (for example, due to infrastructure or cost constraints).

Disclaimers

Aeris Journals is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

I do not make promises about uninterrupted availability, freedom from bugs, or suitability for any particular purpose. You use the service at your own risk and should keep your own backups of important data.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for:

  • Loss of data or content.
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to:

  • £0 for free users; or
  • The total Patreon support linked to Aeris Journals paid by you in the previous 12 months, if applicable.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. If changes are significant, I will aim to notify you by email or through the application.

Your continued use of Aeris Journals after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
